The GOP Needs to Step up to the Plate

Well, the Obama Administration and the Liberal Congress have not saved the country yet. In fact, they have made many things worse since the tides began to turn with the Democratic return in 2006. Health care is getting worse and this bill just will not die no matter how vehemently the public strikes out in opposition to it (The people have spoken Mr. President) and the economy is not picking up in anyone's book. Because the past 4 years have been terrible for homeowners, devastating for anyone with a business, and detrimental to people who have lost their jobs someone needs to come forward and fix this. This is no where near the effect that the Stock Market Crash of '29 and the ensuing Great Depression had on this nation and abroad but because people's pocketbooks and in essence their lives are being affected, something must be done and it has become quite clear that the current leadership have not helped but hindered the American progress. Recently the U.S. National Debt Clock in Times Square had to drop the dollar sign in order to make room for an extra decimal point to be added. Out debt is out of control and it is well known that the one political party seems content to spend away what we do not have on pointless programs and bailouts.  Conservatives of the nation: this is our time. This is the time to rise above and save this country from itself. Even the great FDR could not save us now. Ironically enough it is his programs (Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc) that have contributed significantly to the increasingly high amount of debt. What to do, what to do? Well... it is time to use our brains and our passion and vote. Research the issues of our day and do something about it. It is our right and responsibility as citizens of this country and we must step up to the plate. Complaining does nothing but voting and writing to your representative does. One person may not make a difference but many can and will. Lets make our voices heard!

Extremism Does Nothing For This Country

As a student at a very conservative university in one of the most red states in the nation, you would think that I would be surrounded with neo-conservatives that are obsessive about their guns, they businesses, and their Pro-Life PACs but I am surrounded by extremism on both sides and despite the constant hammering from both sides against each other, nothing is being said.  Not really anyways.  They negate each others arguments back and forth again and again and it seems that most are spouting off random facts from obscure websites or political journals that are anything but clear and precise. Although there are some exceptional things said, oftentimes the way it is said completely turns the audience off to whatever argument is being made. I will gladly admit that I enjoy listening to Rush, O'Reilly, and even some of the comments that Coulter and Beck have to say but the thing that these intelligent individuals have in common is their abrasiveness. I am a firm believer in the fact that people choose to be offended and those who take offense at very minute comments have no right to be involved in politics or media but sometimes it is practically impossible to not take offense. I agree with some of the arguments made by these previously mentioned individuals but I think they would be taken better if said with more passion and less harshness. On the other side, there are actual politicians such as Reid, Pelosi, Clinton, and Snowe that have some serious issues on their political plates and yet they deal with very poorly and they don't seem to care either way.  They are as abrasive as the extreme right.  Again, if they listened to the people they are supposed to represent and spoke with an actual love of their country, they would be better received. It would not make their arguments any less wrong but they might pull in a few more supporters... maybe.
The point is, just try to be civil. It really does not make some appear to be intellectual if they are just using their mouths instead of their ears.
Try it. You may be pleasantly surprised.

We are free to choose....

I have taken the opportunity to study some recent history within the past 2 decades or so and I have come realize that no matter how many people say they adore the Liberal perspective, they do not seem stay in power for long if they even get a majority in the first place. After the Newt Gingrich Revolution in the early to mid 90's, people trusted the GOP because it did the job it was setting out to do and it remained accountable. It took until 2006 for people vote in the Democrats in majority and here we are, less than 4 years later and they are losing race after race.
It took less than 4 YEARS!!!
It seems that the Liberals are not acting as delegates for their constituents but they are acting as trustees which is not the position they were voted in to and the people are upset. How can we trust someone who is only pushing their own political agenda without much thought to what his or her constituents want or believe.
The GOP is the party of morals and honesty for many.  Conservatives do not typically believe in lowering the bar to help other people feel accepted in society (same-sex marriage, abortion, etc).  Liberals would have us change our laws and values to try and fit in with the drastic changes that have come over the world in recent years. Luckily, the majority of the United States still stands strong and true under the red, white, and blue but the times are changing and more is being accepted that would not have been thought about 15 years ago.
What is the world coming to...?
